PAI Mourns the Passing of Representative Louise Slaughter
PAI is deeply saddened by the news of Representative Louise Slaughter’s (D-NY-25) passing. Throughout her distinguished 30-year career in the U.S. Congress, she was a steadfast champion for the health and rights of women and girls.
Serving as a co-chair of the Pro-Choice Caucus, Rep. Slaughter fought to defend and promote reproductive rights of women not only in the United States but around the world as a vocal and ardent supporter of international family planning and reproductive health programs.
Her leadership and passion for these issues never wavered and while her passing is great loss, Rep. Slaughter’s work to raise the profile of these causes has ensured that a strong cadre of members will be there to pick up the mantle and continue to move this vital work forward.
