(Washington, D.C.) Population Action International is proud to announce the selection of President and CEO Suzanne Ehlers as one of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders for 2012.

The honor, bestowed each year by the Forum, recognizes up to 200 outstanding young leaders from around the world for their professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.  For 2012, the Forum has selected 192 young global leaders from 59 countries. The leaders come from all sectors, including business, civil society, government, the arts, and media.

“Being named a Young Global Leader will help PAI achieve our goal to provide women and families access to contraception around the world,” Ms. Ehlers said. “There are more young people in the world today than ever before in history, so an award from the World Economic Forum recognizes that young leaders are the key to our shared future.”

Ms. Ehlers has led PAI since 2009, building the case for women’s health as an integral development issue that impacts everything from the environment, to state stability, to food security. Her video about leadership is featured on World Economic Forum’s blog.
