This week is Peace Corps Week, commemorating President Kennedy’s establishment of the Peace Corps on March 1, 1961, and celebrating the ways that Peace Corps volunteers make a difference in the communities they serve. As part of that, returned Peace Corps volunteers across the United States and around the world are sharing their stories, promoting cross-cultural awareness, as well as advocating to Congress for better policies, including access to more comprehensive health coverage for volunteers.

At PAI, we’re proud and thrilled to have several returned Peace Corps volunteers on our staff, including PAI President & CEO Suzanne Ehlers, who served in the Central African Republic. Watch Suzanne talk about her service, and how it inspired her career in reproductive health, in our Video of the Week.
